Ghost are spirit that came to life which is caused by
1.dying on property and not taken to cemetery so if your not taken you can't rest in peace so they get mad and haunt people!
2.they were between evil and good so if they can't go to heaven or hail they turn into a ghost.
The reason people don't believe in ghosts is because they can not be explained in science and we as humans don't like or tend to believe the unexplained.
