I work as a suicidologist. Therefore I teach courses attended by people who want to know more about the scientific study of human suicide.
The reason why some people do not like to discuss sucide is because of fear - in themselves or in those they are close to - fear that by talking about suicide you might suggest suicide to someone. This is NOT the case. In fact, one way to prevent suicide is to facilitate a person at risk of killing themselves ("a suicidal person") to talk openly about what is going on in their lives that has taken them to thinking about suicide.
By talking to a compassionate listener a person can come to value themselves more highly and to be able to see new ways to deal with the difficult issues in their lives.

However they tend to talk about it behind closed doors because of the Christians/religious people.
