people that do dog fighting the reason they do it is because if their dog wins they get all the money so that's why they do it i think its terrible i would never do it some dogs are raised just for dog fighting its just terrible

1. It can make them a lot of money, very quickly: a good dog fight can bring in thousands of dollars in gambling in five minutes or less. A well-known breeder of top-notch fighting dogs can sell untried puppies for thousands, sight unseen.
2. It is part of a lifestyle - certain subcultures around the world treat people who fight dogs as heroes or people worthy of respect. In the US, mostly because dog fighting is outlawed in every state, the dogfighting lifestyle is a criminal one and is often intertwined with drugs, prostitution and organized crime. However, there are people who respect and try to emulate this lifestyle.
3. It is seen as promoting the pitbull breed, which was initially bred to be a fearless fighter. Incidentally, when a pitbull isn't taught to fight, it is generally a gentle and loving dog.
There are probably other reasons that I am not aware of.

∙ 11y agoPeople fight in dog fights for many reasons. Mostly money and respect. This is mostly the prospect of gang income to buy and own new things. It is now illegal in all states but people do it in places where the cops get around. Serious crime it can get you up to the max 10 years in jail and a 10,000 fine at the most.
