Mimicry means resembling a dangerous other species. So if a predator has experience with that other species, it´ll think you are dangerous as well and steer clear of you. One kind of mimicry involves being dangerous yourself, too, but the predator won´t attack you if it has experience. Otherwise, it will gain experience and won´t attack the species you´re imitating! It works both ways. Another kind of mimicry involves being completely harmless yourself. So if the predator has experience with the dangerous species, it won´t harm you, but if it harms you first it won´t know the dangerous species is dangerous... and that other species will be unlucky that day. This kind only benefits the species preforming the mimicry.
