No it wont, only the 2.2l engine's transmission will work with the 2.2l and same goes with the other engine.
I wouldn't think so. Even if it does you will run into problems with either the electrical connection, torque converter/flywheel mating pattern,CV axles,or the tranny mounting points, the trans. fluid cooler lines that lead to the radiator and IF you clear those hurdles, the computer wont recognize the gear ratio, so it wont shift out. So my answer will be NO!!!

Auto or standard?
If the radio is not working on a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport it might be a blown fuse. Try the CD player to see if that works. If the CD player works then it might be an antenna problem.
bad ground
Check the fuse?
The awnser is......
Replace plastic bushing.
It's overheating when driven because there is much more heat to dissipate than when it is just idling. Your radiator might need back flushing or your thermostat needs replacing. Change the stat first, then flush the radiator.
I would say it is the radiator fan relay. This just happened to me on my Town & Country. This is a very common problem with these vans. The rad fan relay cost $40.00
