Actually, you can make salt dissove faster, by using the following means:
1. increase the temperature of the water
2. decrease the size of the particles of salt
3. stir it up
Salt dissolves faster in cold water
Salt dissolves faster in hot water because of kinetics. A particle at a higher temperature has more energy and thus will move faster, causing the bonds holding it together to break faster, dissolving the salt crystal faster.
Heat has more energy, so salt dissolve faster in hot water, because there is more heat and more energy.
Diluted salt water...
Salt. Salt dissolves in water, and causes the freezing point to fall; this causes the ice to melt. Sugar does not have this effect, and chalk doesn't dissolve in water.
Salt dissolves faster in heated water. Sugar dissolves faster in regular water.
