how important was shah wali ullah in islam in subcontinent in 1850
Aurengzeb
The scholars like Mujaddad Alf Sani, Shah Wali Ullah, his sons and grandsons, Maulana Ashraf Thanwi and his colleagues very successfully revived Islam in the Subcontinent.
The Muslims in the subcontinent did not know about their religion. Those who did have perfect knowledge were a minority. This was the reason of the Muslims being a weak nation. They read the Quran but as it was in Arabic very few could understand its meaning and thus they did not act upon its teachings. Shah wali ullah then translated the Quran into Persian for the muslaims to understand and act upon.
Shah Wali Ullah promoted his message through writings and education. He trained a number of students and sent them out to promote the message of harmony and unity among all Muslims. He educated the Muslim soldiers on the importance of Jihad. this created awareness in the Muslims about the life they were leading. Shah Wali Ullah wrote 51 books. His books were on sunnah, action and sayings which the people had forogotten. He informed the people about the sins of accumulation of wealth and asked them to keep as much wealth as was required for their economic needs. this creted an opportunity for the Muslims to look at their religon more clearly and practise it on the basis of Shariah as Quran was also translated by Shah Wali Ullah into Persian. Apart from imparting religious education to Muslims, Shah Wali Ullah also provided leadership to the Muslims in the political field. He came out with his great wisdom and foresight to create political awakening in the Muslims of India. This gave Muslims a strong and religious leader to guide them as the previous leaders were pleasure-seeking and least considered about other matters.
Shah Wali was born in 1952.
Shah wali Ullah had such a major influence in the sub continent regarding revival of islam because he was the first islamic thinker who came across the problems of muslims which was leading them toward their moral and social decline.... at the tym when muslims were devideded, disorientiated as well as feeling helpless and need a leader, which they found in the form of shah wali ullah. shah wali ullah found that most of the problems of muslims are becoux of less knowledge of holy quran as well as that they are dividedes in sects known as shias and sunnis. he tried to over come the secterian differences but writting book regarding first four khalifas in sucha a way that was acceptable to very one... moreover he translated holy quran in persian so that more people can understand it and follow its teaching as at that tym only small group of people know about arabic which persian was quite common... even his alliance with the local leaders against maratha made him quite popular among the people of that tym as he was the one who was not related to mughals directly but still he tried to stop decline of mughal empire.. his works were so impressive and was done with such kind heart and good intentions that shah wali ullah inspired many of future thinkers and islamic leaders such as shaheed baralvi etc
He was worried because the Mughal Dynasty was declining and other non Muslim forces were gaining on. The Muslims had left the true path of Islam and the un Islamic practices and ideas had crept in the Muslim society.
