Because thinking people will not jump to anyconclusions, while remaining open to all possibilities. Sometimes software is to blame, and it would be a mistake to engender some kind of supernatural trust it is always flawless. Rarely, it is even hardware, including sophisticated processor chips, that is the source of a problem. But always, clear thinking and careful analysis will carry us through. The problem will come when persons rashly conclude that every apparent discrepancy is caused by the computer. This leads to lazy thinking and even greater chances of bad, misleading results.
