In the year, From 12-01-2009 to 05-02-2009 is GURU MOUDHYAMI.24-03-2009 to 27-03-2009 Sukra Moudhyami. Ashadha, Bhadrapada, Poushya masams all these are treated as not auspicious for marriage, new works, house warming, starting house construction etc.

These months and periods are meant for spiritual uplift, meditation, prayers, Tapas, contemplation of God and realization of God within ourselves. Hence the materialistic functions are barred.

When the Poushya masa runs, it is on 21st December, SUN enters CAPRICORN and this is called MAKARA SANKRANTHI. MAKARA SANKRAMANAM. Sankramanam means entering. Makara means Capricorn. This date is according to SAYANA. In Nirayana system, this Makara Sankranthi comes on January 14th, about 23 days after 21st December. This 23 days is called the Ayanaamsa.

When Sun enters Capricorn, it is like the sunrise tome in a day, commencing on 21st December and ending on 20th December. 12 months are equated to 24 hours, and so each month is 2 hours duration. Thus 21st December- 6AM( SUN RISE TIME) 21st March=- 12 NOON (MIDDAY) 22nd June-6 PM (SUN SET TIME) 22nd September-12 Midnight (MID NIGHT) These 4 are most importantdays in an year, like the 4 points in a day. 21st March and 22nd September are called EQUINOX DAYS.(Day and NIght are equal on these days.) 22nd JUne is called SUMMER SOLSTICE. (On this day the Longest Day and shortest night.) 21/22 DECEMBER is called WINTER SOLSTICE.(On this day the longest night and shortest day) So this Poushya Masam coincides with Capricorn SUN and very auspicious for DIVINE CONTEMPLATION.

Sankranthi is the festival that thrills and charges the heart of every individual with a sense of elation and joy! It is a three-day festival celebrated as Bhogi, Sankranthi and Kanuma, with enthusiasm and reverence. 'Samyak' signifies Holiness and Divinity. 'Kranthi' denotes Change and Progress. Thus, Sankranthi heralds a holy, progressive journey towards Divinity.

According to Nrayana system, Dhanurmasam ends on Bhogi in mid-January. The very next day, Sun, the visible symbol of God begins his Northward movement and this period is significantly designated as Uttarayana Punya Kaala and is celebrated as Makara Sankramanam.

Sankranthi is the festival that thrills and charges the heart of every individual with a sense of elation and joy! Thus Pushya Masam is not chosen for any materialistic purpose and in fact not inauspicious, but most auspicious and hence to be spent with the God.

Regarding buying a car it depends upon your need. If it is essential, you can by but choose a good day and buy. But no marriage or house entrance. If it is inevitable to vacate a house and shift into another one, then you may do that because both the houses are not yours, and there is no other go to exercise. But don't move into your own house.
