Creating sources of renewable energy, (Hydro dams, Solar Panel, etc) is relatively easy when we have machines to help us. If we wait to create them until after the non renewable energy runs out, we won't have any source of energy to power useful machines, so inferstructure creation will involve huge expenditures of blood sweat and tears.
