  • In this question, it is important that you aren't negative, your sentences flow throughly, and aren't positive. Give good supporting reasons, facts, and positive statistics about yourself. A good example of answering this question would be the following: "As a dynamic team player, I am able to listen to the ideas of my co-workers, cooperate in a team environment and come up with creative solutions that work. In addition, I can manage myself and work independently on a day-to-day basis without the distractions of other people. I am able to make tight deadlines, communicate thoroughly, all while managing my daily tasks. Something that I will bring to the table is simply the fact that last year, my sales team had the highest amount of sales in the company which was 79 percent, and I accounted for 27 percent of that on my team. My customer service and attention to detail are unparalleled and I would be an excellent asset to the company."

This is a common question asked during job interviews of potential candidates. Following are typical decent responses. You should prepare for this question by doing research on precisely what it is the company from whom you are seeking employment actually does, and you should have ideas on how you personally might help improve their profitability. Corporations exist first and foremost to make profit.

"Because I am confident I have the skills you need, and can improve these skills or acquire what additional skills I need to contribute to your company's success."

"I know I am a good match for the qualifications you described."

"I am excited about this opportunity and am interested in doing (or learning to do) this work."

"I really want this job, and I will work very hard."

"I am eager to demonstrate what I can do."

This is usually the last question asked at an interview and is normally your final opportunity to sell yourself. When you get to this part, you will have given lots of examples of what you can do for that business. Never, ever answer this question in a selfish way and what I mean by that is never say things like:

  • well it's close to home for me
  • the money is good
  • it's not too demanding a job

At this point it's not about you, it's about what you can do for that employer or business. You should really use your answer to sell all your skills and personal qualities. For example:

I think my skills set are ideally suited to this role because an important part of the role is to be a strong team player and in all my previous jobs, I have always helped out colleagues working to tight deadlines and re-prioritised my own workload to do so. You also want someone who is reliable and committed. I am never late for work and have had no time off for sickness in the last xx years. I am very flexible and if the workload dictates I may have to stay on for a while to complete a deadline for a customer, I am more than willing to do this.

Good luck

If this is a question for a job interview, it is something you must reply on your own. Nobody knows your qualifications as well as yourself.
