Gore's reasoning: To produce Aluminium you send electricity through the ore to reduce it. This uses up electricity. If you recycle aluminum there can be less electricity spent makeing more. Less electricity used means less coal burnt to produce the electricity. That means less CO2 in the atmosphere, which means less global warming, and we don't all die as fast!
My reasoning: There are places that pay you for your aluminum. Trash=Cash... sign me up!!
P.S. over the past twenty years average global temp. has risen 1/3 degree C (not a lot) so I doubt Gore's reasoning

recycling saves money because in some places city councils will pay you a certain amount for every object you recycle for example in Oregon you get 5 cents for every plastic bottle you recycle. The same goes for other things such as aluminum cans but the money payed back to you varies from object to object and place to place.
It's amazing how many things you can recycle these days.
Because cans can take 300- 600 years to decompose, recycling them will mean a lot less rubbish at landfill sites. This means that the smell will be reduced a little bit for the people living near the landfill site.
