Because he brought you into this world and knows more about you and the world you're living in than you think.

Later in life you're likely to have many moments- even more frequently when you've got your own kids, where you'll find yourself thinking "my gosh, dad was right". It's then you'll have more respect for him than ever.

Sure he doesn't get everything right, but once you've gone through the same stages of life he's been through then you'll realise how good of a go he gave it. Instead of seeing him as this old guy who's always been old, you'll start to realise he's a complexed individual with a real past and a real future as interesting and diverse as your own- maybe more so!

He hasn't always been the character you know today, he was very much like you once.
