Why should you study biology?

Biology is the study of all living things, from microscopic organisms up to the largest lifeforms we know about. It's important to know how living things work, because humans are living things. Knowing about biology helps you to understand how your own body works. It's also important to be able to understand how different living things use different ways to do the same things, like making energy, eating, and moving. These things help us to find new ways to solve problems. Biology is also important because many living things are harmful, and learning about them can help us learn how to overcome disease and infection.
Also, keep in mind that anything you study will make you smarter. Having biology in school also helps you to learn how to investigate, how to learn new facts, how to study and search for information, and how to think more critically.

So that we can learn more about our natural environment and how our bodies work, say for instance you realise that your body behaves in an weird way you may even know why it could be doing that e.g. hiccups are caused by digesting your food too quick or eating too much therefore your diaphragm will be irritated and gas will hit your voice box creating a funny sound, and universities and colleges admire pupils who have studied biology very much!!!

• It helps you learn how your body works so you can be healthier
• It teaches you about other living things so you know how to improve the environment for your future
• It teaches you how life works so you can understand the world around you
• It teaches you how different organs and systems work so you can understand the ways that everything is connected
• It teaches you things like food chains for the same reason as the above
• It teaches you how to classify and group things by similarities and differences
• It teaches you how to tell if something is alive or not, which is valuable in the study and exploration of space!
