Elementary School should not end late because the children's schedule affects a lot of other people, including teachers, administrators, parents, and siblings. If their schedule is extended, then a lot of people are affected negatively, not just the children.

∙ 13y agoThey are bad simply because a child's whole school day will be pushed back so they may start later and end later. Children with extracurricular activities may tend to stay at school longer, leaving less time for homework. Children may also take advantage of later start times and plan on staying up even later.

∙ 11y agoSchools don't set the hours or time for the school day. The state sets this and does an audit every year of the schools. If school started later in the day it would have to get out later to meet the time set by the state. They count every minute of the school day. Then, there are the teacher and staff contracts as well as laws concerning lunch and break times for staff. So, time is set by many things in schools.
