What you should understand is that the book known as "The Bible" is a collection of different texts, considered to be sacred - and that different religious groups don't entirely agree which texts should be included, and which not.

Which is the middle book of the Bible?

Ignoring the apocrypha, there are 66 books in the Bible, 39 in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New Testament. Therefore there is no 'middle' book as such if you only consider the titles of the books. The two middle books are the 33rd and 34th books - namely Micah and Nahum (both prophets in the Old Testament). However, if measuring the centre book takes into account the number of words in the Bible (ie the lengths of the boooks) , then the centre of the bible is the book of Psalms.---Additional info:It is commonly believed that Psalms 118:8 is the exact center of the Bible; An important scripture which says: "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."(KJV) This assertion, however, is challenged by some.

What are the books of history and which book is in the New Testament?

The books of History in the New Testament are Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts.AnswerThe Old Testament books generally classed as books of history include Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 2 Kings (the Deuteronomic History), 1 Chronicles and 2 Chronicles. Even just the discrepancies among the four New Testament gospels is enough to show that they are not books of history in the normal sense, even if the overall message is based on the life of Jesus.Acts of the Apostles is the New Testament book quite widely thought of as a book of history, covering the actual history of the early Church. However, New Testament scholars see it otherwise. John Dominic Crossan (The Birth of Christianity) says that Acts of the Apostles is theology rather than history. Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) more bluntly says that Acts of the Apostles marks the shift in focus for second century mythmaking, away from Jesus and towards the apostles, while Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) says the book is a work of propaganda aimed at Gentile Christians and Gentiles who have not yet become Christians.

What does the New Testament say about homosexuals?

Absolutely nothing. It's the old testament that says stuff about it, but if you follow the new testament you should know that Jesus was sent to earth to redeem Christians and render the arbitrary rules of the old testament obsolete.

How many books are in the Catholic Bible compared to the NIV?

Roman Catholic AnswerThere is no "Catholic" Bible, there is just the Bible. The Bible, which has been zealously guarded by the Catholic Church ever since it put it together. The Old Testament contains 73 books of which Martin Luther disagreed with the doctrine in seven of them so he threw them out of his translation of the Bible. But all 73 were in the Septuagint which was the Greek Bible that Our Blessed Lord used, and St. Jerome faithfully translated all of them. Well over a thousand years later, Martin Luther strongly disagreed with a number of books in the Old AND New Testament and tried to throw them out. He succeed with the Old Testament, but he did not succeed with the New Testament. So, for instance, the letter of Saint James is still there, which contains the *only* reference to faith alone, unfortunately for Martin Luther it says "NOT BY" right in front of it. The Old Testament books that he threw out including the beautiful books of Wisdom and Tobit which support the fact that we (as St. James points out) need works as well as faith to be saved. And the book of 2nd Maccabees contains the fact that it is a good and holy thing to pray for the dead. And we know that Maccabees should be in there as it is the only book in the Old Testament that has the reason for Hanukah in it. The NIV is the result of Martin Luther's mutilation of the Old Testament missing those seven books and large portions of at least two others. Some of the verse numbering is different as well, as the Septuagint is a much older Bible than the one that M. Luther used for his translation.
