Natural Rubber is like Chewing Gum.

To make a stable usable product you mix in sulphur and heat the mixture up. This is called Vulcanization.

This is how tires, Bouncy balls, etc were made until the second world war.

Since then the process is similar but the ingredients have change to give us synthetic rubber.
