they are two completely different systems - sharp FO-71 is a termal fax machine, telex is a different system.

The fax machine is used to relay information that is usually documented from one place to another. A telephone is used to relay audio information from one place to another.

telex has almost disappeared, superseded by the fax machine and email. The advantage over telegraph is that ordinary people could read the output (Latin alphabet cf. Morse code), and over the telephone that there was a written record and the recipient did not need to be present to receive a message.
