The fact is "A low pH accelerates decomposition of glycols. Bases such as triethanolamine, borax, or sodium mercaptobenzothiazole may be added to maintain pH, but they should be added carefully."

Also reducing the Glycols pH promote corrosion as the metallic corrosion rate increases rapidly with a decrease in the glycol pH. Organic acids resulting from the oxidation of glycol and thermal decomposition products or acid gases absorbed from the gas stream are the most troublesome corrosive compounds.

The glycol pH should be regularly checked and kept between 6.5 and 8.0 by neutralising the acidic compounds with borax, ethanolamines, soda ash or other alkaline chemicals.

If water is not treated correctly, it can be too Acidic or contain too much Alkaline. Either way, they can harm your body.

If you are doing a lab in science, testing the pH of water will make sure that the water will provide correct results (the pH of water should be 7).

How do you adjust the pH of distilled water to pH 7?

By utilizing a standard pH meter or a standard pH test kit - you will first test the pH of the distilled water - then either add pH UP or pH DOWN (sold at pet stores and hydroponic garden stores) until you reach your desired pH level. A little of the pH adjustment solution can make a big difference so deliver the solution in drops, one drop at a time and then re-test. Hope this helps!
