in basic life support you have what you call the ABCDE assessment airway breathing circulation disability exposure the first 3 are your priority as you need a patient airway , breathing , circulation to sustain life. if you are not breathing the bodys cells/tissues are starved of oxygen and start to die.this is called hypoxia of tissues the longer they are starved the more damage /death to cells
complete shut down of the respiratory system. respiratory arrest is the ultimate result of prolonged respiratory failure. respiratory arrest usually results in cardiac arrest. (in children)
what are signs or symptoms of a respiratory arrest
Cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest.
He died of respiratory arrest.
Respiratory depression or arrest
Respiratory arrest is the cessation of breathing. It is a medical emergency and it usually is related to or coincides with a cardiac arrest. Causes include opiate overdose, head injury, anaesthesia, tetanus, or drowning. Respiratory arrest is treated initially with artificial ventilation, together with treatment of the likely cause. The term respiratory failure, in medicine, is used to describe inadequate gas exchange by the respiratory system, with the result that arterial oxygen and/or carbon dioxide levels cannot be maintained within their normal ranges. A drop in blood oxygenation is known as hypoxemia; a rise in arterial carbon dioxide levels is called hypercapnia.
A good glass of water
Cardiac arrest, Respiratory failure, Ballistic trauma.
alcohal i think
it depresses the respiratory system which causes cardiac arrest through lack of oxygen to the heart
Without getting into it. The heart is just a muscle and muscles can't work without oxygen.
The absence of breathing is respiratory arrest or apnea.
