The Crusades
In 1095 an assembly of churchmen called by Pope Urban II met at Clermont, France. Messengers from the Byzantine Emperor Alexius Comnenus had urged the pope to send help against the armies of Muslim Turks. On November 27 the pope addressed the assembly and asked the warriors of Europe to liberate the Holy Land from the Muslims. The response of the assembly was overwhelmingly favorable. Thus was launched the first and most successful of at least eight crusades against the Muslim caliphates of the Near East.
The sacraments that Jesus gave to the church are Baptism and the Eucharist, also known as the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion. These are considered the two primary sacraments in most Christian traditions.

The Poor Knights of Christ as they were known were, at the heights of their power, the richest organization in the world. They were an arm of the holy Catholic Church but didn't have to share their resources with the church. They owned a very large part of what is now France. They controlled many castles in Europe and the holy land. Their Army was the largest and most capable in the world. Nobles from throughout the western world joined their ranks and gave them huge tracts of land. The Pope abolished the order in 1307 and he issued an order (Papal Bull Vul Ex Excelsio) excommunicating anyone who became a Templar. For information on the modern order which has been reformed in the 1800's see related links. Hope this helped.
The great Reform. It was started by Martin Luther and broke away form the Holy Catholic Church by breaking away and then forming the Lutheran protestant religion. The Holy Lutheran Church is the original and founding religion for Protestantism and is also the closest resembling religion to Catholicism.

The Holy See has never invaded the Philippines. The Spanish Empire controlled the Philippines for several centuries and with it's control came establishment of the Roman Catholic Church as the official religion. That gave the Holy See (or Vatican) a degree of authority and power there.
The Treaty called the Concordat of Worms (1122) gave the church sole power to appoint bishops and abbots in the Holy Roman Empire. It resolved the Investiture Controversy, a power struggle between the papacy and secular rulers over the appointment of church officials.
Our Blessed Lord gave the seven sacraments to nourish and express our faith: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Matrimony, Holy Orders, and Anointing.
