Why the colour of KMnO4 is purple even though Mn exhibit plus 7 oxidation state?

its MnO4 that gives purple colour to the KMnO4 solution. MnO4 absorbs all the six colours present in the white light except for indigo and this colour reflects back to our eyes that is why we see it as purple coloured solution.
