Diamond is ultra-hard (higher strength to weight ratio than steel) due to the way the carbon atoms arrange themselves in solid state (i.e. graphite, diamond, amorphous). Diamond is comprised of carbon atoms bonded in the diamond lattice formation, in which every carbon atom is covalently bonded to another, resulting in a very dense atomic configuration. Further, the covalent bond is ultra strong, so diamond being dense and strongly bonded yields a high tensile strength.
yes coal is squeezed so hard to make a diamond
Diamond is the hardest mineral on earth.
Diamond IS the HARDEST of naturally occurring materials because it is composed of extremely small atoms (carbon) packed extremely tightly where they share atoms in a type of bonding known as covalent bonding. Termed lattice density, diamond packs atoms more tightly than any other natural material and that combined with the covalent bonding is why it is so hard.
yes
Supposedly the only way to distinguish the best manufactured white diamond from a real diamond is the fake diamonds are flawless, and no real diamond can be truly flawless. I always wondered about this though, because how hard would it be to add flaws to a fake diamond to make it appear real? So my opinon is there is no way to tell the difference between a real diamond and a fake diamond.
Yes, diamond is the hardest mineral known.
Diamond's atomic structure makes it the hardest mineral known.
A diamond is a form of pure carbon that is so hard that it can't be changed into a cutting tool.
Diamond grinding wheels need to be abrasive so that they can grind the diamond. Diamond is a very hard substance, after all.
Diamond is hardest Diamond cuts glass Glass does not cut diamond
"The Golden Jubilee is the largest faceted diamond in the world, weighing 545.67 carats." It's colour grade is 'fancy yellow-brown'. This diamond is hard because diamond is the hardest mineral on earth.
because many carbon atoms were crushed under many layers of rock for millions of years.
yes coal is squeezed so hard to make a diamond
it is really valuable and is one of the hardest materials in the world. it is so hard that they use diamond saws (dont ask me how they made those) to cut diamond in to pieces.
Diorite is an extremely hard rock, making it difficult to carve and work with but not anywhere near as hard as a diamond
Only Diamond is as hard as diamond, and if their could be any gem stone as hard as diamond then it would definitely be Diamond.
Diamond is the hardest known mineral.
