Becuase the babies are so little red and young that she thinks she deep fry them and eat them. It's quite a nice sight, first she rips off their heads, then she eats the rest of the body leaving nothing but blood. It's a good thing that the dad is there, if not, not all will survive.

Yes, they can. But concerning the mother, don't keep them together. Only have the babies with the mother when milk feeding them. The mother might eat the babies.
Only if you ever touch the babies or offend the mother.
believe the mom eats the baby's
sometimes if they are sick!!!!!!!!!!
The mother or the doe will feed her babies milk. The mother may not do this immediately and it might take a while for her to feed the litter. So don't be scared. The mother does this for 15 minutes on and off all day. The mother feeds her babies milk for 3-4 weeks. Sometimes the baby may not wean(wean-not depending on the mother for food) until 8 weeks.Rabbits and their Babies This happened with my rabbit and its young. Rabbits do eat their young but they dont mean to if the baby is dead the mother will not know this and will try to revive the baby by nibbling on it when the baby does not respond the mother will start biting. They dont eat them as such but they do bite them to try to revive them so n a contex they can sometimes end up eating their young.
1 risk is that the mother might eat her babies because she might not have enough calcium in her body, so she would eat her babies.
Mother hamster is not resenting her babies, but when mother Hamster are afraid , they hide there children in their mouth. if the mother stayed scared, it will eat its babies! so its better when your hamster gives birth , to Never make any noise close to the cage.
No, usually the mother will eat her babies because she takes care of them.
