In most religions that deal with possessive and cohabitive spirits, the night is a time of mystery and thus enhances the ability of the spirit to move and enter a person. (A possessive spirit takes over a person rendering the normal personality dormant and a cohabitive spirit shares a body with a person but allows the normal personality to retain control.)
