This was chosen through trial and error. Our goal was to enable questions to be long enough so that they can include any necessary details, but not be so long that they end up including personal details that would make any answers only relevant to the person asking the question the first time.
To provide enough room for an answer. Limiting the characters keeps it down to one question.
200 Characters Is the Limit200 characters (i.e., letters, numbers, spaces and symbols) is the limit. There are a number of questions of this exact length on WikiAnswers.
The maximum question length on WikiAnswers is 200 characters, including spaces.
Front Page QuestionsThere are three ways that your contribution can appear on the front page of WikiAnswers: 1. Ask a questionAs long as questions do not contain unacceptable words or inappropriate subject matter, they automatically appear on the front page of WikiAnswers when first asked. The length of time they remain on the front page varies.2. Answer a questionNewly answered questions appear on the front page automatically as long as they do not contain unacceptable words or inappropriate subject matter. The length of time they remain on the front page varies.3. Featured Questions (Located on the bottom of the front page)Featured questions are chosen from all of the unanswered questions by supervisors and CAs. Reasons for choosing them vary. They almost always appear on the front page until they are answered, which is most often not long after they appear on the page.Additionally, the Question of the Day is chosen by members of the Answers(dot)com staff.
If your question is too long, clarify it in the discussion section of the question.
That depends on the product chosen.
1000?
One of the reasons for limiting question length is so that questions stay applicable to the general public, instead of being so detailed that they only apply to one person. We want the questions that are answered here to help other people... not just the one person that asked it first.
If your referring to armadyl godsword, it is about half the length of your character.
If the force F length l and time T are chosen as fundamental quantities the dimensional formula foe mass
Because you ask questions thatare excessively esoteric (What is the length of my right large toenail?)are poorly phrased (Can a person be trusted?)contain so many words spelled wrong that nobody can understand your question (Are you aloud too smok weed in there contry?)is beyond the pale of common decencyis a hypothetical question (Is S. Driehouse serious?)regards illegal activity or is contrary to WikiAnswers terms of service.Another reason is the people who answer questions using nonsense or gibberish, simply to amuse themselves or their friends. So, for the question at hand, many, many questions are asked and answered on this site.
WikiAnswers Mothra820 has made this good point: I had an idea. I think there should be a character limit on web links in FAQ Farm web pages. Last night there was a web link that was 725 characters in length which made page viewing on recent changes sort of a hassle. Two ideas that could be used would be to implement a code capping the number of characters, or by recommending the user truncate the address by directing them to tinyurl.com, a lengthy URL truncation site. Using TinyURL.com is a good idea. Also, we should figure out a way to keep Web browsers from stretching your window when you view a page with a long line. There must be some way we can override this. It will be on the to-do list.
