There can be two reasons why Dominic was so afraid of Violet. First, he had been secluded with little human contact, so meeting a strange person was frightening to him. Second, knowing the prophecy, he was afraid of what he knew was supposed to happen between them (can't be more specific without spoiling the plot).

Dominic was afraid of Violet because he knew she was determined and had a strong will. He feared her because she was a threat to his control and power, and he understood that she could potentially challenge his authority.

Does Dominic have a last name in Caged Flower?

In Caged Flower, Dominic tells Violet in the Repository that he knows very little about his birth, and that he doesn't even know if he has a last name. This shocks Violet, who finds the idea of not having a surname "incomprehensible." But as of the end of the book, we still have no answer to this question.Without providing a spoiler, details about Dominic's early childhood and how he came to be with the Friendship are revealed in Book Two of the series. The answer to the question is found there, along with a few surprises.

Is Mrs Dantner in the Caged Flower series British?

As of the end of Caged Flower Book Two, we do not know Mrs. Dantner's ethnicity, only that she speaks in an accent that Violet can't place. In the first book, Violet initially thinks it is "British, perhaps."In Book Four, in a rather roundabout way, we learn of the source of Mrs. Dantner's strange accent, including an exact reference as to where it comes from, as well as how she became part of the Friendship.

Who was driving the brown sedan in Caged Flower Book Two?

SPOILER ALERT!While not stated, it appears to have been Violet's parents. After Violet and Dominic left to go look up Grisham Lane, a brown sedan pulled in at Violet's grandmother's house. On the way back through, Dominic thought he saw a man standing near the corner of the house, but couldn't say with certainty. On the way back from Grisham Lane, Violet and Dominic discover her grandmother's house is burning, and through the heat and smoke, she sees a man standing near the treeline. After he turns and disappears into the woods, Violet compares the man she saw with the one Dominic thought he saw earlier, and the description matches. It isn't until the end of Book Two that we find out Violet's father was who they had seen-he had returned to the the house after hiding the car on another road, and set the house on fire by pulling some draperies into a lit gas heater. Her parents believed they had convinced the Friendship that they had cut all ties with Violet's grandmother, and that the house would be a safe place to hide while waiting for the prophecy to expire. But the Friendship knew the utilities had been turned back on, and had the house staked out.Violet and Dominic had meanwhile returned to her realhome, which caught the Friendship off-guard. While they searched for her in Chester, she traveled to her grandmother's house, unknowingly dodging them. When her father returned to the house, he found Violet's note, and feared she would return to find Friendship lying in wait for her. So he burned the house to prevent her from coming back.As the brown sedan was driving very slowly down Woodman Road, it's a safe guess that her father was watching carefully for Friendship before approaching the house. And he did indeed find them on his way back to the car, getting shot in the leg in a narrow escape.

What did 'he was worth it' mean in Caged Flower Book Two?

SPOILER ALERT!Mrs. Dantner's husband Jack was killed during the attempt to take the infant Dominic and place him with the Friendship. Assuming what Violet's mother was told was accurate, Dominic's mother Piera grabbed a knife and backed into the nursery to protect him from the group of men who were there to take him. Jack Dantner rushed her, and she stabbed him in the chest before being attacked (and presumably killed) by the others. Dominic was the most important person at the moment, so the others left Jack Dantner to bleed to death while they got Dominic back to Mrs. Dantner.Despite being so cold-hearted in other ways, Mrs. Dantner apparently did love her husband---the wedding portrait of them showed them as "very young", so obviously they were married for some years. The photo album that had "HE WAS WORTH IT" also contained an obituary for Jack Dantner. From these clues, we can assume that Mrs. Dantner was comforting herself for Jack's loss with the knowledge that Dominic was now in the possession of the Friendship. She may have lost her husband, but gaining Dominic kept that death from being in vain.

What happened to that last email that Mrs. Dantner sent to Violet in Caged Flower Book Three?

SPOILER ALERT.It apparently was simply never seen. None of the books tell whether Violet's account was her home Internet account or a free e-mail service account (like Jaedlyn's). But either way, she would have had to have a connection to the Internet to check it. Dominic, after giving in and falling asleep with Violet on her bed at the FBI headquarters, probably never checked e-mail before his nap. We can only guess that the laptop was not used to check e-mail before Dominic hid it in the sack with the Treatise. After being ambushed and taken to the Center, Dominic had only precious seconds to get an e-mail to the FBI before the Wi-Fi connection went down. As he was hurrying to send an e-mail for help, it's a safe bet he didn't stop then to check e-mail, either. So Mrs. Dantner's e-mail, supposedly guaranteeing that nobody else would be hurt, never was received before the laptop was taken away, the hard drive wiped, and the Wi-Fi card removed.

What was the significance of the newspaper in Caged Flower Book Two?

SPOILER ALERT.Mrs. Dantner wanted Violet, Dominic, and Jaedlyn to know for sure that Kassandra was still alive. To prove that, the video linked to from the e-mail showed the current date's edition of USA Today. Violet ran to the nearest paper rack and found the issue, thus knowing that, at least at some point during that date, Kassandra was still alive. Mrs. Dantner's ploy was unsuccessful, however, as the mirror revealed a third, unknown location which turned out to be where Kassandra was being held captive. The other three guessed that this might be where Kassandra was being kept, and instead of turning themselves in to the Friendship, successfully freed Kassandra in a harrowing rescue attempt.

Is Galen in love with Violet in Caged Flower?

It's clear that Galen has some sort of feelings towards Violet, but to what extent is debatable. Clues to his feelings towards Violet include:• His odd pleasure when she takes a roll from him at dinner• His courteous standing when Violet leaves the dining room• His stopping to let her enter the dining room first and pulling out her chair for her (and his smile when she thanked him for it)• His apparent enthusiasm at the thought of playing chess with her• His bemusement when Violet laid her fingers on his chin to thank him for escorting her upstairs after being drugged• His alarm at Violet's condition when she was suffering hyperthermia• His apparently hurt feelings at Violet's comment about Dominic taking care of her ("Taking care of Violet was hisjob.")• His astonishing reaction to Violet's thank-you kiss after the dinner dateViolet commented to Dominic that she noticed Galen seemed to like her ever since she had arrived at the Mansion, saying, "I feel like I'm a little girl, and he's my big brother protecting me."However, Galen's feelings towards her seem to change dramatically in response to the particular situation. He brought her the bucket of rocks to stone Kassandra with, and restrained her when she tried to intervene. He again restrained her during the escape attempt, both physically and with restraints on Dr. Chalsey's examination table. During the struggle outside the upstairs bathroom, he shoved Violet backward violently with his foot, sending her headfirst into the bottom step of the half-flight of stairs. His behavior in Book Two, during the brief encounter in the garage, was likewise different-he seemed prepared to do whatever was necessary to halt her escape.Again, his feelings are highly debatable. It's safe to say that he does have some feelings for Violet, but whether they are love, infatuation, or a big-brother role as she described is unknown. And clearly, he is able to put those feelings entirely aside when required to protect her or restrain her.

What was Jaedlyn addicted to in Book Two of Caged Flower?

SPOILER ALERT! Jaedlyn was addicted to a generic medication called lorazepam, which is marketed under the brand name Ativan in the United States (and other brand names). Dominic and Violet overhear this while sneaking around in Crespin Abbey. While it doesn't say for certain, these are possibly the same "little white pills" Dr. Chalsey was giving Jaedlyn in the first book. Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. It is indeed a benzodiazepine, as Cullman Wallace wrote in the books, and Jaedlyn's seizure in the second book is not unlikely given an abrupt withdrawal from a high dosage.
