the fact that the French populace were rioting, contesting the Royalty, getting rid of all of the nobility's privileges, imprisoning the King and Queen a few years on, was a very bad exemple for other kings and queens in Europe. Foreign allies of the French royalty attempted to reinstate the 'normal order' in a first coalition, then the Republic's stance, self-confident and unwilling to accept any compromise paved the way for conflicts.
