John Adams impetuously permitted passage of his Federalist Party's Alien & Sedition Acts which made him America's first one-term President after his reckless move provoked further impetuosity resulting in Thomas Jefferson's KY & VA Resolutions. Adams was not impetuous, however, in prosecuting the undeclared war against France. His discretion kept the USA out of a much wider conflict.
