Martin Luther King Jr. was important because he tried to put an end to racism and make peace for the world. He wanted people to be treated the equally and not differently. He wanted people to be able to go into the same spots and not have to go to different places. He wanted freedom for the world and be able to go places and be treated fairly.
He was important because he helped America from segregation of black and white people.
He along with many others represented America's conscious. He is the most prominent due to the fact that he had the most charismatic voice. Also, his position seemed to represent building rather than destroying, healing rather than wounding, improving rather than decaying and this appealed and appeals to a larger number of Americans and people all around the world. The founding fathers of America crafted a beautiful document that represents the law of the land. However, their vision for America was a very limited one that didn't speak to the diversity that makes up this country. The Founding Father's vision didn't include women or people of color except that they were incidental objects that fell within the individual responsibilty of white men. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's vision was all-encompassing and all-embracing. His signifance more than any other is that he was able to influence massive social, political and economic change in the most powerful nation on earth.
