Samuel de Champlain was known as the father of new France because he claimed land for France during the age of exploration which is know know as Quebec. Originally Jacque Cartier discovered New France but Samuel de Champlain claimed it. Originally he claimed more land then there is today for France but then there was a great war between Britain and France for Canada because the land had many resources to offer. In the end There was a jury in Canada that promised Quebec land and rights such as teaching there own language, history culture and instating it's own laws if they fought for Britain against enemies such as America. Although when Britain began to conflict with America Louis VIX came into power and decided to fight against France but the people of Quebec stayed loyal to Canada and there agreement and then split from France.
