Genesius was an actor in ancient Rome who used to perform for the emperor, usually plays making fun of Christians. He had a sudden conversion and refused to perform anti-Christian plays so was martyred.

St. Genesius was an actor whose conversion to Christianity took place during his performance in a play that ridiculed Christian baptism. The play was being performed in Rome, before the pagan Emperor Diocletian. Genesius refused to participate in the play so he was tortured, and then beheaded.
