Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was a British officer, statesman, and writer. As Prime Minister of Britain during World War II , he represented the indomitable will of the people of Great Britain. In earlier years, he was a war correspondent as well as a soldier in the Boer War (1899-1902). He was First Lord of the Admiralty in 1940 when Neville Chamberlain was forced by public pressure to resign as prime minister. He served as Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and 1951-1955, and participated in the wartime Cairo and Yalta Conferences with FDR, and the Potsdam Conference with Harry Truman. Much of Churchill's private income came from writing books and magazine articles, and he was awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953. This was for his lifelong body of work as well as his volumes on "The Second World War" (1948).

Churchill, as Prime Minister of World War II was a war hero. Britain was part of the Allies, a group of Nations that were against the Axis. He was known for his epic speeches and pure determination to push Britain to victory (D-Day)

Seriously this is quite obvious but then some did'NT do WW2 at school

Winston Churchil was Britains Primeminister in WW2 who led Britain to victory ofver Germany. He was nicknamed the British Bulldog as he was large and his face did resemble a bulldogs. He actually had a stammer and when he performed his famous awe inspiring speeches he would have to time well as many of the broadcasts were live. His most famous speech 'We will fight them on the beaches, in the fields and the streets. We will never surrender' was broadcast during the war to motivate the people of Britain. Check it out on Wikepeidia if you don't know about his early life and career, but mainly he was famous for leading Britain through World War 2
