The bombing of Pearl Harbor is what caused America to officially enter the war. I said officially because we had been giving Britain supplies as well as having an air squadron fighting for the Chinese against the Japanese called the Flying Tigers. World War II started when, after Britain and France negotiated with Hitler about giving territory to Hitler in exchange for him not invading Poland, Hilter invaded Poland. World War II was fought to remove the Dictatorship of Germany and to get revenge on the Japanese for bombing Pearl Harbor.
