What was the Confederate plan for the defense of Fort Donalson in 1862?

When the news of the fall of Fort Henry reached General Albert Johnston, he laid out his plan to defend Nashville, Tennessee at Fort Donalson. In the middle of February, 1862, Johnston met with PT Beauregard to finalize his plans of defense. Johnston sent 12,000 troops to defend Fort Donalson and with 14,000 troops he reached Nashville. One problem, however, was that of the 14,000, 4,000 troops were fatigued and ill from disease. Johnston also ordered the evacuation of Bowling Green before the conflict at Fort Donalson. His instructions to General Floyd regarding Donalson were to save his army if he could not hold his position at the fort. Floyd was inexperienced and failed at both orders. He lost the fort and his army was captured by Union General Grant.
