Coolidge was famous for saying only what was absolutely necessary. He was unfriendly to the press, and often declined interviews, which is one of the reasons he is not one of America's commonly heard of presidents. At one instance, a reporter informed the president that she had a bet with a friend of hers that she can get him to say more than two words in an interview, and Coolidge just looked at her, said "You lose" and walked away.
