The real villains of the peace were the sheriffs and the churchmen who set the taxes and effectively robbed everyone. Robin opposed the church and in the "Gest of Robin Hood" we read where he took £400.00 from the churchmen who said they had no money, so how can you rob someone who has nothing, and he gave this so called invisible money that the monks denied having to the impoverished knight who was also being robbed by the church.

In this way Robin took from the rich and gave to the poor, gaining the reputation for being a good outlaw who opposed evil, helping those who had been unjustly treated.

A pardon has been found for Robin Hood, he was outlawed in the Peasants Revolt at York where the wicked Lord Mayor who everyone hated was called Gisbourne.

How about THAT!
