It was the turning point of the western front of the European Theater of Operations. The German learned the Allied Forces could repel the Germans and the Allied Forces would soon be in behind enemy lines in Germany. The German Generals also determined they no longer had enough men, equipment and fuel to fight a two front war.

The Battle of the Bulge in 1944 was important for all sides on the Western Front in WW 2. The unexpected assault by German forces were geared to defeat US forces and the Germans' goal was to cut off US supplies by capturing Antwerp. Cloud cover prevented Allied air power from crushing the German surge. The lesson learned was to never take anything for granted. The Allies were caught off guard and a German victory would have slowed down the US forces in a dramatic fashion. It was not a turning point in the outcome of WW 2. It was however, the end of German offensive operations in the Western theater.
