Martin Luther King, Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for contributing the most efforts to peace during the year of 1964. King was the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He is said to be the first person in the Western world to bring about dramatic social change with the use of nonviolence.
