The airbag light can be reset by connecting an ODBII reader. However the light is on because of a problem with the airbag system. The system needs to be checked to insure that the airbag works properly.
When dealing with any part of the airbag system my recommendation is to take the vehicle to the dealership where a train technician can install the new airbag and reset the system. This way if you install the new airbag and the system is not reset. It may malfunction in the event of a collision or it may charge the new airbag and blowup when connected.
There are pages of codes for the airbag system. You need to have it checked for codes by a qualified mechanic as airbag systems are not a do it yourself system.
