Because back then church and state were one and the same.
Christian Church
The Roman catholic church during the middle ages in Europe can best be described as a church that was a stable influence. This was during a time where central governments were weaker.
Secular aspects in the Middle Ages referred to matters that were not related to the church or religion. This included government affairs, legal systems, and economic activities that were governed by secular authorities rather than ecclesiastical ones. In essence, secularism denoted the separation between church and state during this time period.
During the Middle Ages art was mainly commissioned by The Church.
The separation of the church and state is a must, otherwise law and religion will conflict and cause unrest, as we can see happening in the Middle East. The news of the couple's separation made both families upset. The separation of salt from water is rather easy.
The Anglican Church has its roots in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church in the 16th century. The Holy Ghost as much as anyone I should imagine! The Anglican Church is a Communion within the Catholic Church as is both Orthodoxy and Romanism! The name Anglican first appeared in 750 in Bede's History of Britain. It occured again in 1215 in the Magna Charter and was used during the middle ages to denote the Church during contact with Continental churches.
yes
church?
The Church of England did not exist during the Middle Ages. It was formed after the Dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII at the beginning of the modern era.
What were the land marks in church history
it was okay was not better than now CHURCH ROCKS :-)
I am not sure the Church was "hard" during the Middle Ages. The Church spent a lot of energy providing for the sick and poor, giving people refuge, representing the needs of the poor to the kings, and protecting people.
