They formed their own kingdoms: the Kingdom of the Vandals in Tunisia and western Algeria; the Kingdom of the Visigoths in southeastern France, Spain and Portugal; the Kingdom of the Sueves in northwestern Spain; the Kingdom of the Burgundians in eastern France; and the Kingdom of the Franks in Holland south of the river Rhine, Belgium and northern and central Spain. The Alemanni annexed northeastern France and Switzerland to their territory in southern Germany.

The Franks then expanded their kingdom by defeating their neighbours and took over the whole of France, southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
