With the exception of crocodilians, reptiles and amphibians have only two chambers in their hearts: two atria and a single ventricle. The single ventricle allows oxygenated blood to mix with deoxygenated blood.

Why does oxygenated blood reach the muscles and organs more rapidly in amphibians than it does in a fish?

Fish have a "single loop" circulation and Amphibians have a "double loop" circulation.

Are frogs fish or mammals?

No there is a group call F.A.R (fishes, amphibians, and reptiles). Fishes belong in the fish group and amphibians are double life lives in water and land. Reptiles are Alligators.

How is the first loop in the circulatory system of a frog different from the second loop?

Amphibians have a double circulation (hence 2 loops), (compare to fish's single circulation). Blood returns from the body (systemic circuit), to the heart where it is pumped to the pulmocutaneous circuit for gaeous exhange. (The pulmocutaneous circuit involves the lungs and in many amphibians the skin, which also acts as important exchange surface). After gas exchange the blood returns to the heart where it is pumped back around the systemic circuit. So one loop is the systemic the other is the pulmocutaneous. Now go an look at how the heart anatomy is different in amphibians, reptiles and birds/mammals!

Why is the frog a reptile?

As you can see from the other responses, frogs are amphibians, a different class than reptiles. Reptiles are able to lay their eggs (or in some cases, birth live young) out of the water, to which amphibians (their name means "double life") are restricted. However, in an older sense (i.e., pre-Karl Lind), "reptile" was a general term for creeping things, including lizards, insects and lungfish. In that old sense, frogs are reptiles. Mammals, even those low to the ground, like weasels, were generally excluded. Another reason why frogs are not reptiles is because a frog needs to spend atleast some time in water, and reptiles don't need to!

Do amphibians have a double life?

no

What is double circulation?

the circulation from a lungs to the heart is called pulmonary circulation And the circulation from lungs to the body is called systematic circulation This two circulations is called double circulation

How do salamanders circulate blood?

Salamanders are amphibians . All amphibians possess incomplete double circuit heart. They have two atria and one ventricle . Spiral valve helps in shunting blood . Pulmonary arteries carry blood to lungs ans skin for oxygenation . Heart pumps blood .

Name the organisms in which double circulation is found?

The double circulatory system of blood flow references two distinct and separate systems. This distinction is shared by most vertebrates to varying degrees to include amphibians, birds and mammals (including humans.)

Differences between single and double circulation?

what is the different between single and double circulation

What is the difference between double circulation and single circulation?

Single circulation1. Occurrence: Found in only fishes.2. Mode of circulation: Blood passes only once through the heart to supply once to the body.3. Nature of blood: Only venous blood passes through the heart.4. Efficiency: Less efficient as gill capillaries slow down the blood flow so the body receives blood at a low pressure which decreases the rate of oxygen supply to the cells.Double circulation1. Occurrence: Found in amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.2. Mode of circulation: Blood passes twice through the heart to supply once to the body.3. Nature of blood: Mixed or oxygenated or venous blood passes through heart.4. Efficiency: More efficient as blood flows at higher pressure, especially in birds and mammals, which increases the rate of food and oxygen supply to the cell and also rapid removal of wastes from them.

What is classification of heartbeat animals?

Single circulation and double circulation

What is the difference between a reptile and a anphibian?

Amphibians need water at the beginning of their life cycle. They lay their eggs and shed their sperm in water, and the larvae live and develop in water. Reptiles do not require water in any part of their life cycle, other than to hydrate themselves, and lay leathery-shelled eggs on land.
