In most versions of the legend, the grail appeared to them in a vision (or possibly a miraculous appearance). After it vanished, they decided to seek it out; the reasons for so doing vary. For example, in Le Morte d'Arthur, the grail miraculously produces food and drink for the knights, and Gawaine states that he intends to find it at least partly so that he can get more food and drink. (On a less material note, he also says that he wants to get a better look at it.)

Morgan le Fay, alternatively known as Morgane, Morgaine, Morgana and other variants, is a powerful sorceress in the Legend of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. Although there are records to prove King Arthur's exsistance, many scholars believe that he was less of a deal than the tales give appearance to.i have no idea who he or she was.....if you know please tell me but i have to tell u....................she was king arthur's sisterOkay, yes Morgan was Arthur's half sister, She was very deceiving, at one time she stole excalibur and gave it to her love, so when arthur fought her love, he would be powerless.

Why did Merlin take King Arthur from king uther?

Arthur was the son of Uther and Ygraine - but Ygraine was NOT Uther's wife when Arthur was conceived. Had Uther and Ygraine had other legitimately conceived children, Aurthr would have been .... "inconvenient", and a potential threat to Uther's other sons. For Arthur's own safety, Merlin took the infant Arthur away to be raised separately. One more point; there is only ONE KING AT A TIME. If Uther was King, then Arthur could not be - and Arthur could not be King while Uther lived.

What were facts about sir Mordred?

In the story I have heard, Sir Mordred was supposedly Arthur's Son/Nephew. Merlin Prophesied that Arthur's son would kill him. Arthur sent Mordred out with 40 other babies to die afloat in a coracle out in the sea. Mordred was the only survivor, grew up in Lothe, and became a knight of the round table. He did fulfill his destiny. He killed Arthur while Arthur killed him. ( all this from I am Mordred by Nancy Springer)

What magical stories were told about king Arthur?

King Arthur is the central figure in the mythology of Great Britain. He figures prominently in the cycle of legends known as The Matter of Britain. Historians disagree on whether anyone like him ever really existed. It seems safe to say that it hardly matters. His myth is just as strong with or without a historical personage to go along with it. His is one of the stories that lays the foundation of Western culture and provides a template for the culture's ideas of honor, leadership, conduct of war, romance, religion, and death. Arthur first appears in Welsh poetry around 600 AD. In several Welsh history texts Arthur is referred to as a great military leader. In 1138, Geoffrey of Monmouth popularized the legend of King Arthur in his fictional work, Historia Regum Britanniae. It is believed that the Norman conquest of Britain in 1066 stimulated interest in the obscure legend of Arthur. The Normans found common interest with the Welsh in legends that portrayed a great military hero triumphing over their common enemy, the Saxons. Sir Thomas Malory wrote a version of the legends called Le Morte d' Arthur in 1485 which is considered the first modern telling of the stories. He gathered the stories from sources throughout Europe and created such a definitive work of literature that it is the direct source for most adaptations of the stories all the way to the present day. We offer here a version of the legends called The Story of King Arthur and his Knights. It was written and illustrated by Howard Pyle. He was a great American writer/illustrator who wrote several wonderful books about King Arthur and other books about pirates and Robin Hood. His illustrations are considered some of the best ever made and were in great demand during his lifetime. The Story of King Arthur and his Knights was published in 1903.

What does King Arthur send the knights on a search for?

In Chrétien de Troye's Perceval ou la Conte del Graal, the earliest extent graal romance, only Perceval and Gawain are shown to be searching for the grail. In this and most other romances the quest is primarily Perceval's personal quest. However increasingly the grail quest is seen is the central exploit of the Arthurian era. In the Prose Perceval which claims to be by Robert de Boron, when Perceval achieves the grail, that is the general end of wonderful adventures in Arthur's realm. Arthur subsequent conquest of Gaul which leads to a war with Rome is explained as an attempt to keep his knights interested by providing them with feats worthy of their valor. The prose romance Perlesvaus has Perceval, Gawain, and Lancelot all seeking the grail. And it is explained that Percveval's failure to ask the question when he first came to the grail castle has resulted in the illness of the grail king and general lethergy across all of Brtain. Even King Arthur has been affected. In the original Vulgate Arthur Cycle, consisting of the Prose Lancelot, The Quest of the Holy Grail, and The Death of Arthur, it is explained that Arthur's kingdom is afflicted with many difficult adventures, many of which are adventures of the grail. Only a promised best knight will achieve the most difficult of these adventures. Meanwhile the Knights of the Round Table do achieve many of the lesser adventures and put an end to the oppression they cause. Here first comes that idea that all Arthur's Knights of the Round Table take part in the quest of the grail. After the grail quest is achieved by Galahad, Perceval, and Bors there are no more wonderful adventures.

How many knights of the round table were there?

Generally there are 9 major ones, but in reality we don't know. A total of 32 existed that we know of. But one was King Arthur, 5 were other kings, and one was Mordred (another was also the butler... bet you heard that quote before lol). But also remember there are numerous different legends you can go by (some were Lancelot-Grail, Post-Vulgate, and my favorite, La Morte Arthur). There may be more knights not listed, but we're never know. -~Iolaos~-
