because of conflicts- infrastructure was damaged directly by battles, as were homes. also the economies were all geared towards supplying the war that afterwards it took a long time to turn back to production of everyday civilians lives. also most of the male population had died or were injured therefore the redevelopment of industries were effects (this did allow for a growth of feminism however yay!!)
