Greeks were often sea traders because of the difficult landscape surrounding their cities. The land was rugged and mountainous, not exactly the easiest route to take when caring wares to trade with cities that could be miles and miles away.

the Greeks lived on the Mediterranean Sea... so I would say that one. They knew of the Black sea and the Caspian sea; and the ancient Greeks believed the Atlantic Ocean to be a world encompassing sea.
The early Greeks became successful traders by using the seas as trading routes. They could not make a living farming, as the soil was too poor and rocky to sustain agriculture. The Greeks traded art, textiles, delicate glassware, precious stones, and perfume.
