Hieroglyphs were formed as the basic writing system of Anceint Egypt. Ancient Egyptians used pictures that stood for dissimilar letters and they were carved on burial equipments, on the walls of temples and tombs, on pieces of Egyptian jewelry and on false doors.

It is consider an achievement because the civilisation created a writing system out from scratch to increase communication. Counting, language and writing are the basic of all human civilisation to show the evolving of a civilised society. It also through counting, language and writing, other achievements are made like law, inventions, trade and architecture.

In other words, in a world without a written language, it would be impossible to even write a letter to a friend, never mind communicate with all the other citizens in a civilisation.
