There were so many people who became sick from radioactive sickness that many had to wait in turn for medical treatment. Doctors and nurses never had training for this sickness. All that made it worse for the sick. People in the open, exposed to flash burns from the immediate explosion, became known as "the procession of ghosts." to prevent their red, exposed flesh from sticking; people thrust their arms in front of them like ghosts. Their skin, like the thin skin of a peeled potato, hung from the fingernails, where it was still attached. Many died as a result but the medical personnel tried everything to help.
