The disciples were almost all martyred because they had been witnesses to the events described. They were not going to lie about things they knew to be true. Later martyrs had and have an inner witness that attests to the truth of the Gospel message. People in some parts of the world are still dying for their adherence to Jesus, so it is not just a past tense phenomenon. Their belief, like those of the past, is unshakable because in many cases they have experienced the life-changing power that belief in Jesus brings. Christians martyrs did not and do not commit suicide for Jesus or have a death wish, but simply do not deny him in the face of persecution and it is this that can cost them their lives. For Christians, Jesus died for them, so it is not too much to die for admitting to following Him.

A:Almost every religion has its martyrs willing to die for their beliefs,so there are numerous examples of martyrdom, even if some of them can not be fully confirmed.

Acts 7:58 says that Stephen was the first Christian martyr to die for his beliefs. In commenting on whether this really happened, Raymond E. Brown (An Introduction to the New Testament) says that we can never verify the martyrdom or even existence of Stephen.

In just one year, 782, King Charlemagne reputedly beheaded forty-five hundred Saxons who resisted his campaign of forced conversion to Christianity. Each and every one of these martyrs chose death rather than renounce pagan beliefs.

What is the difference between trust and belief?

Belief regards to a opinion, which may be accepted as true by some people and may not be accepted by some people. Trust regards to the real scenario that's going to happen. eg: There is a belief among the employess that they have appraisal. Employees trust that there is a appraisal. Spiritual example can be this way.. 1.People have beliefs in Christianity that Jesus will come to the world second time.In this sentence Christians believe that Jesus will come to earth but others need not believe it because their opinion might differ. 2.People trust in Jesus that He will come to earth second time. In this sentence, the arrival of Jesus for the second time is expressed as very true. Trust here signifies that he will surely come. Either people agree or they disagree, Jesus will come. So, it is obviously good for you and pleasing for the Lord to Trust in Jesus than to have belief in Jesus.

Why do people believe that a picture of Jesus is a genuine imprint of his body?

OpinionThe picture of Jesus is on the Shroud of Turin, one of several 'genuine' shrouds to have come forward since medieval times. Perhaps some people are willing this to be the real imprint of the body of Jesus because they do not want to believe that the Church has been deceiving the faithful for centuries. Or perhaps they want some proof, any proof, that Jesus lived and was crucified.
