Well they took the land I think and because Queen Elizabeth I gave Raleigh a charter to start a English colony in North America. And I think that the Iroquois didn't get a chater so yah. Doing social studies homework!
The reasoning why the Iroquois were enemies with the french are not so simple. When the Europeans first came to North America the Dutch established fort Orange; the English Jamestown (later burned down in the Bacon revolt) and the French Quebec (new France). Unlike the Huron/Wendake confederacy, the league of five nations (later six) or the Iroquois confederacy was the only one who resented the Europeans (which would allow them too indure for so long), Ideally by being decimated by various epidemics before they even directly encountered them. The Huron and Iroquois were long-standing enemies long before the arrival of Europeans, most likely due to long standing blood-feuds. The Hurons being the most power nation in the begining due to it being the centre of an extensive trade network, were and would remain traders until there destruction in 1649. The french traded European goods and weapons exclusivley with the Huron exclusivley, giving them a major advantage over the Iroquois in war. Although the Huron were devistated by war with the Iroquois and severly weakened due to their close relations with the French, the French would use its other Amerindian allies against the Iroquois during the Beaver wars to gain hunting territory, to secure pelts which where essential the Quebec ecconomy.
In short it was a series of long standing feuds that lasted well over a century that made them ressent the French (for than any other European power at least), in doing so the Iroquois to survive had too choose a European ally.... being the English. Although by the 17th century peace with there western and European neighbors took priority..... they continued raids for "mourning ceremonies" (to capture and refill their ranks) against the tribes known to them as "flat-heads" in the South.
The Huron and Algonquin tribes.

The Hurons and the Algonquins
During the French and Indian War, the Iroquois sided with the British against the French and their Algonquin allies, both traditional enemies of the Iroquois. The Iroquois hoped that aiding the British would also bring favors after the war
The Iroquois. Because he helped the Hurons fight war with them. This caused bitterness between the Iroquois and the French.

because they went to war and the algonquin & Huron were sided with the french but the Iroquois sided with the English
The Huron were the traditional enemy of the Iroquois. They were enemies for quite some time. When the Huron made allies with the French in the 1600s, the Iroquois saw this as a threat. They started doing raids, and they wiped out the Huron tribes. They were also an enemy of the French. The Beaver Wars that started in 1609 were actually the Iroquois fighting against the French and Huron over hunting grounds related to the fur trade. They also fought against the French and Algonquians during the French Indian War.

The traditional enemies were the Algonquins, Hurons, Mahicans, and Montagnais. But the Shawnee and Susquehannocks also became enemies.
